Site is under construction once again. No coder just yet, but possibilities are bubbling under the surface. So here's to you, the fans, please bear with me. I'll see this project through! |

| It's hard to keep promises |

To be frank, I'm not sure if anything will be accomplished by year's end. Money is tight, but the bills are being paid. I upgraded the site so I hope to hear from the fans who fortunately for me, stuck around. I wish I could be more accommodating; I'm just not a coder by trade and those I've approached are interested, but busy. I'd also love to at least have full doctype support as that would help the efiction.org community immensely.
To think fanfiction.net is moving ahead. Well, good for them. I will still be a rival. I also submitted a request to be a beta for their BETA level beta reader/writer script. Ah the misuse of the english language, hope that made sense. |

Some experimental concepts.
On reviews: I see that ficwad has a karma system, but I do not like stories being given ratings as one my add it to favorites even if it sux. We are fickle like that. Ratings give a bit of elitism or battle or some facsimile of competitiveness. Now I do like competition, but my first intuition is to stave it off here.
The fix: Rated Reviews. We all start with 5 points. These are the amount of reviews we can get from others. We get more by giving reviews. When a review is given, it is rated 1-3. 1 is the default point and is effective for a comment of basic encouragement. 2 is for good reviews such as comments and critiques on elements. 3 is for a longer detailed, thought out review. These points give 1,2, and 3 more reviews we as a writer would receive from others. This encourages reviewing.
On reporting: I see that fanfiction.net's report system is ineffective. They do not address much of anything and I'd be surprised they'd ever remove the 3x3 eyes 'test'fics. Tehre are many of them in that category. Many people complained.
The fix: Rated Reports. Points 0-3 are given to reports received. The quality of the report denotes the point awarded. The subject of the report is unimportant. 0 is default since all reports are to be handled. These points have no spending method yet, but encouraging reports is also important. I may just have the points go to reviews.
On betas: I see no beta support much anywhere on the net and the demand is high. Fanfiction.net has been threatening to release it for over a year. I will have it by years end for sure. I will expand upon this, too.
The fix: Rated betas. Like reviews, points are given as to the quality and amount of edits. In this case, many betas versions would be received and many would gain credit. The points may go to gaining beta submissions from others.
Ok, comments ^^ |

| Updated to 3.2.1 |
[Mar. 17th, 2007|05:08 pm] |
Been busy lately. Hard to keep track of it all.
Efiction updated to 3.2.1 which should have resolved some of the issues. I'd like help with testing so please reply to a review and see if you get an error. I think I can backup the database now.
I believe I have nearly 100 Animated categories. 20 maybe 30 have characters. I still don't have sort working nor can I see characters in the drop down under categories, Very odd. I'll fix up some of the design that reverted in the update back again. I wish all of the html was kept separate from the php so I wouldn't have to worry about it, sigh.
I'm taking suggestions, but most of what I need are more members in the community, so if you could spread the word, I'd be most grateful. I have a cafepress account, think I should use that? |

I am asking those of you out there to please tell your friends and have them tell their friends etc, that I have opened up the category and character submission areas to everyone interested in the position. It is a volunteer position. Details are at the site proper, http://www.fanforge.net thank you. |

| I'm trying something funny out |
[Mar. 4th, 2007|01:01 pm] |
I now have a blog via http://blog.fanforge.net setup so it'll import this feed, so if you post here, it'll appear there. This is the first one to appear there so it is also a test.
Website update, more fanfiction added, thanks to Shanjayell. I really should begin data entry, but I remain cautious as I await my coder's progress report next week as early as Monday. I'm also tense over what it is I ant this site to be, I can truly make it huge and awesome, but I risk becoming professional which has its merits and problems as you can imagine. My megalomaniac tendencies say 'go for it' my realistic side says 'you are good now with efiction, just update it' so yeah, i'm open for discussion. (try #3) |

Heh. I'm also first pic poster on fanforge, as far as I know. Is it a good idea to continue to post fics, or will programing & upgrades possibly mess up the fics?

Ok, I made an LJ since I thought it'd be easy enough to use. So, here's the news.
I have a paid coder designing the entire site from scratch and adjoining sites. not sure of the cost, but if I push to 200 total dollars i should be plenty safe. All extra revenue will be spent on data entry positions unless you don't mind donating your time and effort instead ^^. I may also spend it on advertising, but so ya know, I won't misuse it. Most of that money will be for my coder/s. I will write stories for you even if I'm messing up my marathon. Thanks. |
